Thanks Anand, as I mentioned, I do highly recommend it's use. I am one of
those engineers that makes sure the soil is properly hydrated before a slab
is poured and also highly recommend to the contractor to keep the top of
slab wet while it cures. 
As one reader mentioned, a properly wet soil will prevent a lot of leaching
of water out of the slab to slow down the drying process since it hardens
from inside outward.
Thanks for the warning - fortunately I do follow your advise.
