Needless to say, the construction joint has to be "cleaned". 

Jim Dane had a good-practice idea. Maybe we all should put a note on the
plans to provide these dowels if a 2-pour (placement) is being used. 

P.S. I hate the expression "pouring" concrete, the contractor might interpret
this as a soupy mix. Placing concrete sounds much better.
