Fwd: Re: Lumber Grading in Texas (and elsewhere)

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
At 0933 on March 21, 1997, Edward Li inquired about grading of lumber in
Houston, Texas.

Unless *very* unique conditions exist in Houston, lumber there should be
graded
the same as it is elsewhere in the U.S. Dimension Lumber (lumber less than
5"
in thickness) is graded under the National Grading Rule for Dimension Lumber.
Lumber 5" X 5" and larger is graded under the grading rule of the agency
authorized to write grading rules for that species. Pages 3 thru 7 of the
Supplement to the 1991 NDS indicates who these agencies are and the species
that
they grade.

With regard to glue-laminated lumber, AITC 117 and ANSI/AITC A190.1 would
apply.

I hope that this helps and that I did not completly misunderstand the
question.
