Fwd: Dead Load On Shear Walls

When an exterior (plywood) shear wall has an interior cross wall framing =
into it at a right angle at the middle of the shear wall, how much of =
the dead load of the cross wall can be considered to provide OTM-dead =
load resistance to the shear wall?

When the floor joists bear on the cross wall instead of the exterior =
shear wall, the shear wall appears to have virtually no dead load on it, =
exept the weight of the wall itself.  But intuition suggests that when =
the shear wall tries to rotate, it will "pick up" some of the cross =
wall's dead load.  What would be a prudent method of giving the system =
credit for such dead load to reduce anchorage requirements while still =
being a rational, defensible approach?
