I once had a judge (personal acquaintance) tell me that you cannot contract away negligence. Therefore, any lawyer worth even half of his/her fee is going to claim negligence and a "limit of liability" clause goes out the window. I would like to add, however, that a limit of liability clause is good up to the time the client gets a lawyer. A. Roger Turk, P.E.
