RE: Wind and seismic requirements in OKINAWA, Japan

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
According to UBC Appendix to Ch 16, Naha, Okinawa is a seismic zone 4.
According to NAVFAC DM 2.02 Naha, Okinawa has a 178 mph 25 year peak
gust velocity.
According to NAVFAC DM 2.02 Kadena, Okinawa has a 184 mph 25 year peak
gust velocity.
To convert from a 25 year wind to a 50 year wind, multiply the 25 year
velocity by 1.12.
The peak gust velocity is compatible with ASCE 7-95 pressure
calculations, but not with the 97 UBC which uses a "fastest mile" wind
velocity.

That is allot of wind!

I am interested to know the local wind and seismic design requirements
in
OKINAWA, Japan.
Does anyone have any information on the subject or any suggestions as to
where to locate the information.
