SE Exam, Washington

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
The Washington State Board of Engineering and Land Surveying has been
considering changing to the NCEES structural exam for a couple of
years. The primary concern is the cost of maintaining the Western
States SE Exam. When the NCEES exam is used for the other exams ie:
civil, the money passes directly from the registration to NCEES, for the
Western States Exam the money from the registration goes into the state
account then pays SEAW for the grading of the exam. Therefore, on paper
it appears that the Western States Exam is more expensive than the NCEES
exam.
The SEAW board recommended about a year and a half ago that if the state
decides to go to the NCEES exam and additional 2 hour exam should be
given in state to cover seismic issues. This exam would be of the
format of the current Western States exam.
