If you roughen the surface of the existing concrete, and dowel it to the new concrete with Hilti HVA type epoxy dowels or equal, the shear-friction is usually substantial enough to resist the bearing pressures and connect existing and new grade beams.

  Regarding your proposed solution of adding a new grade beam/footing along
the exterior edge of the existing wall footing, how did you ensure monolithic
action between the existing and new members? Did you specify dowelling into
the existing footing? Did the new footing undercut the exisitng footing?
