I believe that I may have mentioned this reference before, but here 
it is anyway.  The January 1996 EERI Earthquake Spectra (Northridge 
Earthquake Reconnaissance Report, Vol. 2) included a section on the 
performance of wood buildings.  Pages 137-145 include discussion of 
shear walls and hold-downs and have perhaps 15 photos of damage.
