DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION OF R/C CONNECTIONS

ACI-ASCE Committee 352, Joints and Connections in Monolithic Concrete
Structures, would like to make you all aware of the following "Call for
Presentations." Presentations from those responsible for the DESIGN and
CONSTRUCTION of R/C connections in high-seismic zones are particularly
solicited. Thanks for your time.

	MEETING:  Two technical sessions on "Design and Construction of
Earthquake-Resistant Monolithic Connections" during the October 1998 ACI
Fall Convention in Los Angeles, Calif., sponsored by ACI-ASCE Committee 352,
Joints and Connections in Monolithic Concrete Structures.

	SOLICITED:  Presentations on topics related to the design and construction
of reinforced concrete beam-column-slab connections. Of particular interest
are experiences of designers and contractors with such connections,
especially in high-seismic zones. Subjects included for the first time in
the new Committee 352 Recommendations (slab participation, knee joints, wide
beam construction, and use of headed reinforcement) are also of interest, as
are connection-related subjects not yet included in the Committee 352
Recommendations, such as constructability, strut-and-tie modeling, retrofit,
and displacement-based design.

	REQUIREMENTS:  1) Presentation title,  2) author(s) name, organization,
address, telephone, FAX, and e-mail,  3) abstract not exceeding 300 words.

	DEADLINES:  Abstracts by June 30, 1998. Authors will be notified of
acceptance by July 31, 1998.
