RE: wood frame

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
Is there any way to create fixidy at the base of the steel columns? If the
base of the columns can be considered fixed, then you will not be required
to create a moment connection between the wood beam and column.

A fixed connection at the base may be accomplished by either embedding the
column into the foundaiton system (pole footing type) or if the moment is
small enough, anchor bolts spaced far enough to create a couple.

If you choose the pole footing option, you must keep in mind the deflection
at the base.

I hope this helps.
