I agree with Charles O. Greenlaw, SE  and thank him for providing the
infomation from Space, Time and Architecture. I would just like to add that
a number of sources give the first building constructed with balloon
framing as St. Mary's Church (25 by 30 feet), built in 1833 in Chicago.
