Sounds like you do need an attorney.  It also sounds like your company is
hanging you out to dry.  Who signed the plans you or your supervisor?  This
could be key in your liability if something catastropic were to happen.  As an
observer admittedly without all the facts it seems that the "risk managers"
are making decisions base soley on what they percieve their defense will be if
the builidng were to fail not based upon moral or ethical grounds.
