RE: AutoCAD DWF files

Roger Turk has a remarkable knowledge of Win98, for an individual that
swears he only runs DOS! Actually, I think that he probably runs
Windows "in the closet". He is right, though, Win98 replaces several
important DLL files during it's installation. However, it keeps backup
copies of everything it replaces. You can compare file versions, and
restore the predecessors, using Win98's Version Conflict Manager
(C:\Windows\vcmui.exe). Now Roger, that isn't all that deep into
Windows!

Bill,

It was recently reported in InfoWorld that Windows 98 will replace newer

.dll's with older .dll's, but won't tell you what they did. This occurs
only
during installation, so, if you install a new .dll file after you have
installed Windows 98, nothing will happen --- until you have to
re-install
Windows 98 again after your machine has crashed. Windows 98 *does* save
the
.dll files that it has replaced, but, they are hidden deep, deep in the
file
structure.
