Commercial Construction Standards

Dennis,

A couple of comments:

1. If you look in Sweets, you will find that the weights of suspended
ceilings (T-bar) are closer to 2.5 to 3.5 psf rather than the 1.5 psf that is
generally stated in manuals.

2. ACI Guide for Concrete Floor and Slab Construction recommends that
contraction joint spacing (in feet) be 2 to 3 times the slab thickness (in
inches). Thus, for a 4" slab, the joint spacing should be 8 to 12 feet.
Since your climate is similar to ours, I would suggest the 8 foot spacing be
considered.

Hope this helps.
