Is possible that some sanity is returning to this thread? Excellent point,
Mark.

I certainly hope the ones proposing making lateral analysis of a type V
structure more complicated also is developing a method whereby we get
properly compensated for this additional effort. Otherwise, this approach
will, in effect, become a self inflicted pay cut.

In our search for a rational methodology are we missing something?  Was the
damage during Northridge the result of a precise distribution of forces or
the failure of somebody to tie the buildings together?
