Unless the specifications call for some additional protection, I would not
paint or seal the wood members. Depending on the type of pressure preservative
treatment, you may not be able to paint or seal the wood. Creasote will not
allow painting. Penta in light oil (Type C) is not paintable unless you
specially prepare the surface. Water-borne treatments are paintable. See
AASHTO M 133 for requirements.

Some specifications for handrailings require that the treated wood be painted
and AASHTO specifies the use of penta type C or water-borne treatment.

Appearance may be a consideration. Check with the treater to determine what
the wood members appearance will be.
