Re: Re; "portable" footbridges

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]

There was an article in Composite Technology Magazine, Jan/Feb edition
1996, regarding lightweight composite foot bridges used by the National
Park Service in Maui. The longest span installed was 80 ft. meeting
design criteria for 100 mph winds (take this with a grain of salt, most
reporters are a little unclear on the concept) and zone 2 seismic.

The bridge was installed by four men over a few days in some pretty
remote conditions. Assembled weight is only 8000 lb.

Per the article, design and manufacturing was provided by E.T.
Techtonics in Philadelphia.

Hope this helps
