Steel joists are just fabricated steel structures, nothing more.  They
will be affected by elevated temperatures in the same manner as anything
else made from steel.

If all the members are all hot rolled, AISC recommendations will apply,
and you probably don't have anything to worry about.  If, however, the
chords and/or webs are made from colled formed pieces, you will need to
determine if the additional strength due to the cold forming process was
used in design, as it may be gone now.
