If you want to get the technical information, try to find an earlier string
of posts regarding Seismic Isolation or Base Isolation.  Otherwise do an
Internet search uder these two titles.  However, I have the feeling that
your professor might want you to do something simpler than recreating a
friction pendulum bearing system!

I used to teach a freshman engineering class where students had to build
clever models.  Please write to me privately if you think that I might be of
some help, and include a description of your building.
