RE: TWO-HOUR RATINGS OF FIRE-RESISTING

I have designed piperacks and other structures inside ethylene plants and
the fireproofing used was 2 inches thick 3 ksi concrete. Most of the oil
companies specifications mention this fireproofing to guarantee at least 2
hours protection according to UL. Your client should provide you one copy of
this specification.
There are also some intumescent painting that in contact with fire it
becomes a foam. You should make a cost comparison between these two methods.

I'M IN COURSE OF DESIGNING ETHYLENE PLANT


WHICH IS NEEDED TWO-HOUR RATINGS OF FIRE-RESISTING BY UL 1709.



ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS THE THICKNESS OF THE CONCRETE REQUIRED


IF WE USE DENSE CONCRETE AS FIREPROOFING MATERIAL.


IF YOU HAVE ANY DATA OF EXAMINATION


OR EVIDENCE THAT CLARIFY THE THICKNESS OF DENSE CONCRETE WHICH IS ACCORDANCE
WITH UL 1709,


OR IF YOU KNOW WHERE COULD I GET SUCH AN INFORMATION
