The question "Can a nail in tension (pull-out force) be used to provide
lateral stability to a compression flange of a wood beam?" implies that
nails in tension perform differently when used to brace a member. I
believe that the answer to this question should explain what is different
about forces in braces otherwise the question can be simplified to; can a
nail be used to resist tension forces?
