Simpson Strong-Tie pleased to announce the following new position: Director, Lateral Force Resisting Systems Lab -- Pleasanton, CA There is a position open for a Director for the new Lateral Force Resisting Systems Laboratory to be constructed near Pleasanton, CA. This is a new position created in response to the need to expand our research and development capabilities in this area. JOB DESCRIPTION This position will be responsible for overseeing a new research and development laboratory capable of full scale testing of multistory shearwall systems. The testing will be cyclic static (reversed), pseudo dynamic, and dynamic (one degree of freedom). Because the laboratory is in the initial design phase, this person would also have a significant role in the design and construction of the laboratory itself. Additional responsibilities would include participation in various related Code committees and giving presentations to both non-Simpson Strong-Tie and Simpson Strong-Tie personnel. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * M.S., Civil or Mechanical Engineering * Experience with static, pseudo dynamic and dynamic testing and the mechanical systems used to run them * Familiarity with light frame building systems * Thorough understanding of wood, steel and seismic design principles * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Ability to work well with people RELOCATION Relocation will be negotiated for a qualified candidate.
