Title: RE: Deformed Mesh Substitution in slab

am somewhat surprised.  we use the 18" in partial response to contractor complaint about the difficulty of getting your foor (in mud boots) into a 12x12 opening and the pain it causes.  this contractor wants this hassle in this case ?  mats must be considerably cheaper that then field tying labor?

have him lap and splice the mats, or provide smooth dowels across the joints ?

while on the topic, does the fracture at the controlled crack provide keying action sufficient to control shear in non industrial slab ?

do deformed dowels allow sufficient "weakness" at the sawcut for the crack to occur there ?
do sheet metal keyways provide sufficient shear action for any type of slab ?
