Not sure, but I suggest you call the American Galvanizers Association. 303/750-2900

I would like to know if anyone has information on the smoothness of a
galvanized coating being affected by Silicon in the steel. I received a
handrail from the galvanizer with an orange peel surface and was told that
it was a result of high silicon content. If silicon is the culprit, at what
% level does the coating have problems? Any other comments or experience?
