The 1997 UBC section 1630.1.1 states that E=pEh + Ev and that
Eh = the EQ load due to base shear or the design lateral force, Fp.
In designing a masonry wall for out-of-plane loading, should the Ev factor
be included in the E?
This section seems to state that for out-of-plane loading, Ep = pFp +
0.5CaID. This means that for a masonry wall with roof loading, the out of
plane loading force would increase by the wall weight and roof dead load, as
included as Ev, as well. This seems to be a significant increase from the
1994 Fp forces. Is this your understanding also?
