Seismic Design Manuals

    Volume I Code Application Examples

The Seismic Design Manual was developed to bridge the gap that exists between
the Commentary of the Blue Book, which explains the basis for the UBC seismic
provisions, and everyday structural engineering design practice. This is done by
providing examples that show how individual code provisions are used, such as
how to compute base shear or building period, as well as seismic design of
common types of buildings. Important aspects of whole buildings are designed
to show how the various seismic requirements of the code are implemented in a
realistic design.

The book was written by members of SEAOC

Upcoming volumes:

Volume II will have complete building design problems for Wood & Masonry
Structures.

Volume III will have complete building design problems for Steel & Concrete.
