Racking strength of timber frame walls

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
Virginia Tech has also done some testing in this area. research reports are
available to download from their website. you can follow the link from the AWC
website at under technical information or by going directly

Dan Dolan is the principal researcher. i'll copy him on this message so you have
his email address as well

Simpson Strong-tie ( has been doing racking tests for their
products and I believe have set up some test for researchers testing
You might also contact Bob Kazanjyat the University of California in Irvine.
I believe Bob has been doing some research on shear wall cyclic load testing.
Bob can be reached at rkazanjy(--nospam--at) (Robert P. KAZANJY).
You might also try contacting Ron Ogawa who has been doing some testing as
well. He can be reached at rogawa(--nospam--at) (I think this is correct). If the
address I have for Ron is not correct, you can ask Bob Kazanjy and he should
have an up to date or correct address.

Hope this helps you.

Try TRADA in UK. They have conducted monotonic tests (load in one
direction) but may know if some in Europe are doing cyclic reversed load
tests. There is a CEN test under development for cyclic loading of
fasteners. Dr. Ario Ceccotti at one of the universities in Italy has
experience in cyclic load tests of shear walls.
