I believe the distribution factors for concentrated loads (effective
widths) on slabs were derived in Westergaard's original work,
"Computation of Stresses in Bridge Slabs Due to Wheel Loads" published
by the Bureau of Public Roads back in March, 1930. This is an excellent
reference, containing many useful graphs, for anyone involved in bridge
or building design.
As far as the distribution factors for concentrated loads to stringers
and beams, you might check out the article "Solutions for Certain
Rectangular Slabs Continuous Over Flexible Supports" by Vernon P.
Jensen, University of Illinois, June 7, 1938. A word of warning
though....... this article contains mathematics that gets a little
