Yes, Glu-Lams are not made of uniform grade materials.  The middle lam's
are not as strong as the outer lam's.  Similar to the difference between
a V4 and a V8 designation.  It acts like a tji - the good stuff at the
extreme bending fibers and filler in between.  Sorry - cutting not a
good idea.
