As indicated by Ed Workman, the analysis must allow for catenary action
either through cable elements (FEA) or analytical methodology. Proprietary
tower software will/should assume a catenary for the cable (for example, see
http://www.powline.com/products/mast.html ) and will also assume pinned
connections at each end. However, the base of the tower needs to be defined
as pinned/fixed and designed appropriately. Depending upon the geometry of
the tower, aerodynamic enhancement of loads may also need to be assessed.
