RE: 1997 UBC 1806.6

My copy of the code (1806.6) reads "...one bolt located not more than 12
inches or less than 7 bolt diameters from each end of the (sill) piece".

There is a revised section of sill bolt spacing that reads that the sill
bolt shall not be more than 12 from each end of the sill piece or SEVEN
BOLT
DIAMETERS. For a 5/8" diameter bolt, this is 4-3/8" which will not allow
enough room for a 6x6 post.

Has anyone figured out how to frame a 6x6 post at the end of a wall or
next
to a door?
