enough room for a 6x6 post.

Has anyone figured out how to frame a 6x6 post at the end of a wall or next
 to a door?

Bill, It is my understanding the the Seven Bolt Diameters is the AITC
requirment for minimum distance when considering tension parallel to grain in
the plate and that 12" is the maximum distance from the edge of the plate.
Possibly the code is worded incorrectly.
