Cold Form Steel Member Design

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
I have recently searched the SEAint list serve archives and the web for cold
form steel (CFS) design programs. This message contains some of the
results. Dr. Wei-Wen Yu taught at the University of Missouri-Rolla Civil
Engineering Department. Their Center for Cold Formed Steel Structures web
site (www.umr.edu/ccfss) contains a list of CFS software vendors.

For beam column design under various loading conditions the programs AISIWIN
and LGBEAMER from Devco Software, Inc look good. Download a demo at
www.devcoengineering.com if you have an interest. In a post to this list
on February 24, 1998, David Boyer recommended Robert Glauz?s program ?CFS?
available from RSG Software, Inc. at www.support(--nospam--at)rsgsoftware.com

My questions:
What CFS program would members of this list recommend for beam-column design
and check?
Do either of the above programs have draw backs?
Does anyone have experience with a composite system using CFS joists, steel
deck and concrete? What fastener transfers the shear from the joist to the
deck?

Thanks
