RHO RHO RHO YOUR BOAT! It's a tough Boat to Rho. SOS! I wonder who did the plan check on the Titanic? Was that a rigid hull? A flexible hull? Or a brittle-fracture non-ductile steel hull? Anyone seen any Lawyer-Bergs out there yet? PS: Will our Captain be going down with the Shipp? James Bela *PPS: Why is it such a tough Boat to Rho?? SOS! * * Because of the Redundant.SEA Factor (This is too easy!) WORK TOGETHER To which "John G. Responded: This may be the first time that the "Captain" went down without the Shipp. It is true that we are all in the same boat - what we need do to is to work together to patch/fit the code so that it does make sense. Remember that most of these same provisions are in the IBC 2000 code. John Shipp *I hope you?re right, John (about not going down)! And I add my thanks for *your efforts in opening up the process, particularly the upcoming (wood) panel *discussion in conjunction with the SEAOC convention. *But . . . remember the Titanic? *Turn of the century shipbuilders had their Titanic! [S.O.S.] *20th century aerospace engineers had their Challenger disaster! *Late 20th century Structural Engineers (S.E.) had their Welded Steel *Moment Frame! [S.A.C.] *. . . and Wood is about the only thing left! *DAMN THE PLAN CHECK TORPEDOES! FULL SPEED AHEAD! *Wasn?t it John Paul Jones who said: *?I HAVE NOT YET BEGUN TO FIGHT! *Maybe if some more of us were in the Leader-Ship, we wouldn?t all be *?in the same boat?! *One thing is clear: * ?The significant problems we face cannot be solved by the same level *of thinking we used when we created them.? * --- Capt.
