Title: RE: Sheet Piling Vibration Effects

See "Vibrations during Construction Operations", by John F. Wiss, ASCE, Journal of the Construction Division, September 1974.  Figure 5 shows threshold of damage to residential structures at 2.0 in/sec velocity and threshold of damage to small commercial type buildings at 4.0 in/sec peak velocity.  It also shows these values reached due to a vibratory pile driver within approximately within 10.5' and 8' distance, respectively, of such a pile driver.  Figure 6 shows the vibrations from such a pile driver to be "Disturbing" (above 0.3 in/sec) within a distance of approximately 50 feet.
