In seismic country, steel used to be used a lot more than in the projects
I've seen recently. People are staying away from moment-resisting frames
because of Northridge and the uproar still going on about beam-column
connections. I see lots of braced frames if steel framing is used. Every
project is different, of course, but, in general, one and two-story
non-residential are reinforced masonry and structures more than 2 stories
are steel.
