RE: stainless steel & welding electrodes

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
I was pleasantly surprised to see Bob Shaw's contribution. Bob is VERY
knowledgeable especially in the areas of structural steel erection, and
special inspection. If structural steel is of interest, you should tour his
web site.

He is also an excellent presenter and speaker.

Check the new AWS D1.6-99 Structural Welding Code - Stainless Steel. Table
3.2 identifies 316 as the alloy, but could be a number of ASTM's depending
upon product type. Filler metals are in Table 3.3.

Does anyone know the appropriate ASTM designation for type 316 Stainless
Steel. Is it ASTM A316?

Also, where can I find info on the appropriate welding electrode for this
material??
