RE: Galvanizing High Strength Bolts

I remember this being a "hot topic" (pun intended) in the 80s. The consensus
then was that you DON'T hot-dip galvanize them. You mechanically galvanize
them using the "tumbling" process that coats them with a powder-based
coating.
 
Be interesting to know if there's anything new in that arena.

Is it possible to hot dip galvanize (hot dip) high strength bolts and
threaded rod, or will the heat of the process destroy the tempered qualities
of the material?
