RE: Mat Foundations

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
AASHTO's Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges has a foundation
section with charts and equations for mats that involve bi-directional
bending that is quick and easy for small mat foundations loaded at a single
point, and includes solutions for load cases that involve mat uplift. I
don't know what you mean by "large" exactly. For a really big mat with
multiple loads and large column spacings, you really ought to be looking at
a mat-on-elastic-foundation approach, which requires some software.

Subject: Mat Foundations

Does anyone know a good source for information on the design of large mat
foundations subject to overturning moments?
