Check with The Masonry Society (www.masonrysociety.org). I'm sure you can find qualified assistance through them.

RE: Evaluation of an existing brick building in downtown San Jose

I have been asked to address the structural issues related to a proposed remodel of an existing two story brick building in downtown San Jose.

The question was asked (likely for good reason) whether or not the existing brick was sound.  In some locations, the mortar is falling out and some bricks are loose.

I would like the name of an Engineer in the South Bay who has experience evaluating old brick structures and can make recommendations for the structures rehabilitation.

Thanks in advance for any response.
