From the steel design side of things, Hank Martin of AISI is already doing everything he can to make the steel design provisions in a potential NFPA code as simple as he's already made them in the IBC 2000. The steel chapter in IBC is all of six pages long because it consists off references to the existing standards.

Hank deserves a lot of credit for what he's done.
