Ron and Mike,
I use Outlook 2000, and it has an option to show the BCC field (Start a new message and click View/BCC field). I also have Outlook 2000 set up to ask me if I want to reply to a receipt request (From the main Outlook window choose Tools/Options and on the Preferences sheet you can click E-mail options/Tracking options/Ask me before sending a response). I don't know if Outlook 98 has the same options but if it does they are probably found at the same place as in Outlook 2000.
Hope this helps

I too have rely messages in my outbox from a few messages. The rely is
marked as hold and is not sent. The contents say only the time and date the
mail was opened.
I also use Outlook98. I remember on the earlier version of Outlook that
there was an option that could be checked that would request this
information from the receiver. It is not on the new version of Outlook but
it is somehow trying to reply to received messages.
I have noticed that the option for BCC (Blind copies)copies is now gone.
I used this option often on the earlier version of Outlook.
I did not get the message from Kehshin Chi as of this time. I will watch
to see if it happens on my mail reader.

Occasionally when I read a message posted to this listservice MS
Outlook 98 seems to send a message confirming receipt to the original
sender (not to the list). This happened earlier today for a posting
by Kehshin Chi. If I'm quick enough I delete the response from my
outbox before it is sent, but our system doesn't dally with outgoing
Is this happening to others? If so, is this exact behavior unique to
Outlook? Does this compromise the privacy of the email list? If so,
is there a way for the listserver to control this behavior?
