If you go to the web site referred to by Shafat ( http://www.grc.com ),
they have instructions on putting your "shields up". Most of work is just
reconfiguring your WIndoze network settings so that hacks can't enter your
computer through open communication ports. The web site has a good
discussion of the problem and procedure. Then you can download a shareware
program called 'Zone Alarm' which will alert you to attempted unauthorized
access. It took me around an hour or so to download the software and do the
settings on one machine.
