There is an interesting point in the Bachman&Bonneville paper of the latest Spectra that recaps the development of UBC'97 Seismic Provisions.
The authors point out that the story drift has two components:
1. shear deformation
2. flexural deformation (I guess, this could be significant in high-rises)
The second component would not directly effect the enclosed nonstructural systems, such as cladding and window wall system.
Has any of you went through the trouble to separate these components out of and ETABS (or equivalent) computer model?
