Snow drift along the parapet wall also requires decreased joist spacing such
as 2'-6".

For tall walls, I would use steel angles @ 48" o.c. laying perpendicular to
and on top of
joists. The angle strut to be 5' or 6' long to cover 2 joist spaces.
This provides positive lateral support for the wall.

Metal deck usually runs continuously over many joist spaces.
The fixed end (pin connection) along parapet wall will cause excessive
bending moment in the deck due to adjacent joist deflection.
The angle struts will help to minimize the deck stress.
