RE: Metal Deck Welding

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
The A992 steel, to be welded as prequalified, must be welded with a
low-hydrogen electrode, in accordance with AWS D1.1, Table 3.1. E6022 in not
low-hydrogen. That doesn't mean it can't be done, but the contractor will
have to do a qualification test.

The deck welding itself is governed by AWS D1.3, but since you're welding to
structural steel over 3/16" thick, D1.1 also applies regarding filler metal
low-hydrogen requirements and preheat.

Can I use E60 22 for metal deck welding to A992? I dont think it is a filler
match.
