RE: SAP2000 question

[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
Calculating the base shear and overturning moment can be as easy as
looking at the .out file. The "GLOBAL FORCE BALANCE" section includes
a line item for the total "inertia" forces.

Because SAP2000 is a general purpose finite element program, getting
the story shears and moments is a bit more involved. For this
purpose, follow the directions found in the online help under "Display
Group Joint Force Sums".

Subject: SAP2000 question

How do you get the total base shear and the overturning moment for the
structural model of a building when doing a response spectrum analysis
in
SAP2000? Or the horizontal force distribution of the response spectrum
analysis? I'm analyzing a 4 story shear wall building.

thanks in advance
