The values given as "Allowable Shear Stresses" appear to be the shear yield
stresses, commonly taken as the tension yield stress divided by the square
root of 3.

I am reviewing a pile splice shop drawing (the pile is a prestressed
concrete pile, the splice is a proprietary steel splice) that indicates the
design is based upon "Ultimate Strength Design Criteria".  Is this
different
terminology for LRFD?

On the assumption that it is LRFD (which I am not very familiar with), I am
trying to check the shop drawing calcs using the AISC LRFD.
For the plates and bars, the shop drawing calcs show "allowable shear" of
28.9 ksi for Grade 50 material and 20.8 ksi for Grade 36 material.  This
doesn't match what I get using section F2 (0.9 * 0.6 * Fy =  27.00 ksi &
19.44 ksi).

Can someone tell me what I am missing?
