[Subject Prev][Subject Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next]
Harold - The State's Seismic Retrofit Program for hospitals is described at
the following site. It is administered by the Office of Statewide Health
Planning and Development. Chris Tokas, SE, a SEAOC member, manages the
program. The site also has regulations that you can download for free.

As far as the dollar estimates for the program, they are all over the map
depending upon who generates them. The cost is effected by many variables,
options and business decisions that are intertwined with the seismic
evaluation and retrofit requirements. The program duration is over the next
thirty years.

The Seismic Safety Commission sponsored the legislation that created this
program in 1995. Recently enacted legislation at the request of hospitals
offer more flexibility, revised deadlines, additional carrots and sticks.
